The Scariest Music Ever – David Lee Roth’s Bluegrass Cover of “Jump”

Posted by on October 30, 2012

I’m not sure if it’s because I was raised in a family with bluegrass musicians (and have run as far away from that music as possible) or if this is truly the most frightening song ever.

For me, nothing is darker than the reality of seeing glamorous rock king David Lee Roth take one of his classic Van Halen songs and destroy it.  His own reputation suffers with every note of this countrified version of  “Jump.” Poor bloke.

His burlesque dancer shimmy and rock wail are fully out of place next to the fiddle and banjo. He grits his teeth like a jack-o-lantern as he tries to find the country groove. Truly horrifying!

Happy Halloween everyone!
