“I decided I didn’t want to be considered a jazz singer anymore and that was really freeing.” – Jose James
José James made his first two albums: 2008′s The Dreamer and the 2010 release Black Magic with legendary DJ-Producer Gilles Peterson.
These records made waves with jazz and electronic fans.
The new album No Beginning No End is a departure from the first two releases. With no label hanging over his shoulder, he’s freely experimenting with musical styles from hip-hop to funk, R&B to jazz. From soul to electronic.
“I feel like this is my first album as an artist,” James said. “This is the first time in which there were no label, no A&R – nothing but myself and my relationship and history with my music.”
“Trouble” is the favorite track so far from the new record No Beginning No End. Here José James plays it live.
The new album No Beginning No End is as sexy as it is soulful. José James goes straight for the babymaking vibe in the opening song “It’s All Over Your Body.”
The Minneapolis-born, New York-based artist lays down a live version here.
José James is currently on world tour and is probably coming soon to a venue near you! Order the great new release and get the latest updates at his official site.
