Soul Dance Song – Otis Redding’s “Hard to Handle”

hard

Soul vocalist Otis Redding co-wrote the song “Hard to Handle” and released it as a “B” side to the single “Amen” in 1968.

The aggressive, percussive delivery Otis sings with was copied almost exactly by the Black Crowes on their 1990 release Shake Your Money Maker.

It was a hit for the rock band, but Otis still does it best.

  1. So good. I adore the Love Man album – (Your Love) Keeps Lifting Me Higher and That’s A Good Idea are just the best. Black Crowes? Pshaw!

  2. Agreed. “I’ve Been Loving You Too Long” (the live in Paris version especially), “Just One More Day”, “These Arms of Mine” and “Pain In My Heart” are also incredible. Have you seen the documentary
Dreams to Remember? It’s one of the best. He’s so magnetic live.
